In this day and age, the smartphone is as common an accessory as earrings, a hat or a watch (which is likely just as advanced) but do we really know exactly what these things are capable of? There are so many features on our phones that we just aren’t aware of. Some of you out there may be more well versed with your phone than others, but odds are there’s still a few things you’ve not picked up yet. Let’s take a look at some of the features it’s capable of and hopefully you’ll find something in there that’ll introduce a new facet of convenience in your everyday lives.
Low Power Mode
Let’s start off with a simple one that’s super hands, especially when your phone’s batter becomes inevitably more unreliable over time. If you’re out and about and you notice the casual use of your phone is eating away at its battery you can head to battery settings and set your phone to low power mode and it should hopefully keep you chugging until you can next charge it. An even quicker way to achieve this is to add the setting to your quick menu by heading to the ‘control centre’ and tap the low battery icon to turn it on, that way you can do it without even unlocking your phone.
Hide Your Photos
Picture the scene; you’ve saved a particularly hilarious meme to your picture library and you know your friend is going to crack up on viewing it, so you hand the phone over to them. “Check this bad boy out” you say confidently. They read the caption and together you laugh heartily, the operation was a success and then the worst thing happens, they start swiping through your photo’s. There’s no more mortifying a feeling than when someone finds a private photo on our phones but worry no more, iOS has you covered. If you want to hide a photo or two simply select the ones you wish to conceal, once you’ve done this click the “share” icon (bear with me), It’s the one that looks like a square with an arrow pointing put of it. Once you’ve done this click “Hide” and hey presto, secret photo stash. You can still view them yourself in the albums section, but they’ll be kept separately so you never have to worry about showing of those sick memes ever again.
Customise Your Calls
This is another simple yet cool feature that your iPhone offers and it’s perfect for people who have their phone set up to a hands-free kit, whether in the car or on your travels. Sometimes we aren’t always able to view the screen to check out who is calling. A handy feature is being able to personalise your ringtones and text alerts for individual contacts. Simply head onto your contacts and select the one you wish to personalise, from there press “Edit” then you’ll find the option to change these to something different. That way you’ll always know when someone important is calling you.
